| 2008 Fall Conference |
Welcome to the "Magic City" of Birmingham, Alabama. We are pleased to host the 2008 Southeast Region Fall Conference. We have chosen the theme "Going the extra Mile".
We are convinced that you will decend upon Birmingham at one of the most historic moments in our countries history. It is our hopes and intentions that we will be celebrating the election of the first African American President in our countries history. How fitting it will be for us all to gather at the "Seat" of the civil rights struggle that led to this momentous occasion.
We have a conference full of learning experiences planned for you, and ask that you prepare to feast on these educational opportunities. If there is anything that we can do to accomodate you please feel free to give us a call at 205-212-8782. We look forward to seeing you soon.
"All that I am I owe, we live eternally in the red."

Welcome to Birmingham Professional Firefighters Association we are the local affiliate of the International Association of Black Professional Firefighters (IABPFF).
The Birmingham Professional Firefighters Association is a non-profit organization formed in 1982 by the members of the City of Birmingham Fire Department. Our purpose is to address issues relevant to our membership, such as promotional opportunities, testing procedures and hiring practices, etc. While these issues remain a part of our focus, we recognize the need to broaden our scope to include community service.
Community Service
The Birmingham Professional Firefighters Association realizes the importance of community service. To that end, three years ago we established “The Burn Victims Assistance Program” to provide some of the much needed items lost by our citizens in house fires. Each year our organization assists hundreds of families in the City of Birmingham and surrounding areas with much needed clothing, furniture, food and monetary donations.
Empowerment
The Birmingham Professional Firefighters Association recognizes that our organization is only as strong as those that we empower to carry on the vision. We also realize that the empowerment process starts while we are young and impressionable and continues through adulthood. In keeping with this idea, the Birmingham Professional Firefighters Association has instituted an “Adopt-A-School” program through which we provide our members the opportunity to interact with Students from schools in the community that we serve. We present ourselves as positive role models helping the students with problems that they face from day to day. Our pilot school that we adopted was Hemphill Elementary School. After our first year working with Hemphill Elementary school we were chosen as the "New Partner of the Year" at the Birmingham Board of Education Partners in Education Banquet. The mentoring program has been well received by students and teachers alike.
